Interested in human forms, rather than the more mechanical industrial
design style of drawing, Cleveland based artist Derek Hess has been
churning out amazing poster art since 1987. "I started booking
underground rock concerts at a bar in Cleveland called The Euclid
Tavern. I drew my own flyers to promote the shows, which blended
my interests in art and rock perfectly. The flyers really go around,
I guess, because after I started printing big color versions of
them in 1994, Newsweek magazine featured me, along with two other
artists, in a story on new poster artists." Since then he's
had his work appear on a slew of album and magazine covers and
had his work displayed in many galleries across the USA and abroad.
