From swingers' pads to supervillains' hideouts, from the South of
France to the North of Africa, hipsters everywhere seem to be talking
about Shag. A commercial illustrator since 1987, Shag (a.k.a. Josh
Agle) has only been painting actual pieces for public consumption
since 1995. Almost everything previous to that was commercial art
in a variety of styles - most of them recreations of past commercial
art styles (sci-fi pulp art, sixties clip art, etc.). When asked
how he settled on his current style, he replies, "Because it
was easy. I didn't have to worry about shading and proportion."
Nevertheless, Shag's "easy" paintings have been shown
all over the US, Europe and Australia.
